Creating a Campaign in the WYSIWYG Editor

BulkMail

has two editors on the platform; a WYSIWYG and a drag and drop editor.

The WYSIWYG editor is a simple HTML editor where you can code your emails from scratch.

WYSIWYG

  1. Click ‘Campaigns > Emails’ on the navigation and choose ‘create a new email’. Then at the top of the next screen there will be a button that says ‘WYSIWYG’. This will open the screen to start creating an email in the WYSIWYG editor.

  1. The next step is to fill in the Envelope at the top of the page. First give your email a name. This is for your reference and the recipient will never see the email name. Then select your from address. Haven’t set up any identities and don’t know how to? You can find out how here.  The subject is what your recipients will see when the email is sent. The subject line is very important factor in whether the recipient will open your email or not. We have a great guide on writing subject lines here. The reply-to part of the envelope is if you want a reply-to address that is different to the identity you are using.

  1. Now it is time to build your email. Click ‘edit the HTML version’ button. This will open the WYSIWYG editor. You can now edit and create an email in the editor. There are multiple tools at the top on the toolbar. Some of these you may not be familiar with or not know what they do. We will go through that in detail shortly. If you have written your copy in another word processor, it is important that you do not copy and paste directly from word processors like Microsoft Word or Open Office. These word processors often use coding in the background which will likely clash with the BulkMail HTML code and can seriously impact the look and feel of your email. Instead, we recommend copying and pasting your text into an application such as notepad or TextEdit, and then copying from that and pasting into the WYSIWYG editor.

If you find this editor difficult to work with or your knowledge of HTML code is not that great, we offer a bespoke service where we will build you a bespoke email template that you will just need to edit text and images and not worry about the background HTML code. Uploading images

To upload an image into the BulkMail image manager click on the insert/edit image icon from the bottom row of the toolbar within the WYSIWYG editor.

Then Click on the image source browse button.

You will now be directed into the image manager when you can upload and save your images. To begin, we would recommend that you create a folder so that your images are well organise.

Now click directly on the folder, this will place you inside the folder. Now you can start adding images inside the designated folder. To do this click on the upload button.

A new window will appear and you now have the option to drag the files you want to import here or simply add files to choose from your computer. Once chosen, please click the upload button.

Once your files reach 100% they are now successfully uploaded into your folder.

Please note the following images are valid extensions that are acceptable to upload: .doc, .docx, .jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, csv, txt.

Max file size:  100MB

Inserting links

To add in a hyperlink on a piece of text, highlight your text on your template.

Then click insert/edit link icon from the toolbar.

The insert link window will now appear.

Now, enter your desired URL in the URL field. Once a link is placed on a piece of text naturally it will change colour to a blue with an underline. If you do not wish for the link to change colour or would like to apply another colour on the link you will need to change the Text decoration to “None” you will then be able to change the colour via the colour option.
